The Governance and Civic Engagement programme seeks to strengthen democratic institutions, enhance governance transparency, foster active citizenship, and promote sustainable development.
- • Governance Innovation Lab: Experimenting with new approaches and technologies to enhance domestic accountability in line with local democratic contexts.
• SDG Collaborative Action Forum: A platform for collaboration on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), involving a variety of stakeholders that include government, the private sector, and civil society.
• Civic Engagement and Rights Protection Initiative: Supports journalists and activists, fostering public dialogue on civic rights and responsibilities to ensure active participation in governance.
• Citizen-Led Accountability Initiative: Provides physical and virtual platforms for citizen-led action to promote accountability in Nigeria.
• Strategic Convenings: High-level national and international dialogues focused on addressing the most difficult policy, democratic, and nation-building challenges facing Nigeria and Africa.
Exposing Systemic Corruption at Ikoyi Registry
June 2020: Taiwo Adebulu, an investigative reporter with TheCable went undercover at the Ikoyi Registry. After publication of his report, TheCable observed that staff of the registry stopped compelling facilitation payments. The fight against corruption can be won. Speak up!
