SMYF at COP28 in Dubai
In collaboration with the Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF), the Yar’Adua Foundation organized a side event on December 7, 2023. The goal was to highlight the criticall need for a just energy transition in the Niger Delta. The event, “Centering Impacted Communities in Nigeria’s Energy Transition”, featured a panel discussion with local, national, and international partners.
Notable participants highlighted the environmental damage caused by oil activities in the Niger-Delta and stressed the importance of an inclusive approach that goes beyond cleaner energy adoption to include environmental restoration and community development.
The Keynote Address was offered by HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri and Chief Ebiyemi Omatseye, the Olujimi of Warri featured on the panel.
